The Denver Athletic Club announced that linebacker Von Miller will be honored as the Colorado Athlete of the Year and Broncos play-by-play announcer Dave Logan will receive the Denver Athletic Club’s Career Achievement Award.

Milller and Logan will be given their respective awards at the Denver Athletic Club Award Banquet on Friday, June 15 at the Denver Athletic Club.

The Colorado Athlete of the Year award recognizes a professional Colorado athlete who has made significant contributions to their field and to the community. Miller, a Pro Bowler who also was named Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012, led the Broncos with 11.5 sacks in his rookie campaign.

Miller joins a list of Colorado Athlete of the Year winners that includes Chauncey Billups, Connie Carpenter-Phinney, John Elway, Scott Hamilton, Todd Helton, Craig Morton, Rod Smith, Troy Tulowitzki and Larry Walker.

Logan, who has called Broncos games for more than 15 years, will receive the DAC’s Career Achievement Award that reflects his successful career as an NFL player, radio personality and high school football coach.

Logan played nine NFL seasons from 1976-84 and has been broadcasting on KOA for more than 20 years. In addition, he’s coached 19 years of high school football and became the only high school football coach to win state championships with three different schools at a state’s highest classification. His teams have made 17 post season appearances including six state championships. Logan, along with Dave Winfield is one of only two players to be drafted by the NBA, NFL, and MLB.

The banquet is open to the public with all proceeds benefiting Mile High Squash —an after-school youth enrichment program that combines academic tutoring, squash instruction, community service and one-on-one mentoring to students in order to prepare them for post-secondary education. Mile High Squash was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in the Denver Athletic Club. Information on tickets and sponsorships are available through the Denver Athletic Club.
